Rihanna Demonstrates That Monochrome Can Be Truly Chic

While well known for her daring sense of style—ranging from denim on denim to animal prints and avant-garde fashion—Rihanna understands the power of elegance and simplicity. Last night, Rihanna showed that monochrome outfits can be anything but boring as she supported her beau A$AP Rocky at the event honoring him with the first-ever Tribeca X Filmmaker of the Year Award.

For the occasion, Rihanna dressed in an all-yellow gold outfit, proving once again how effortlessly she does luxury. For the night, Rihanna opted for a sleek, tight-fitting velvet dress matched with a butter leather long line coat. Rihanna accessorized her look with multiple golden diamond pendants, bangles, rings, as well as large black sunglasses.

Rihanna styled her hair in soft, undulating curls and sported a nude-plum lipstick, perfectly complementing her gleaming white manicure and pedicure. Her look demonstrated that monochrome dressing can exude quiet luxury and sophistication—yet still feel bold and impactful.

Rihanna has always been a great proponent of maximalist dressing; however, recent all-black, all-white, or otherwise monochromatic looks such as her all-leather outfit seen with Rocky in Paris prove her just as competent in creating a statement with an all one color outfit. From leopard prints to jungle attire, or even all one colored looks, Rihanna always manages to make fashion out of her minimalistic endeavors as well.
