Barcelona to Host First-Ever European Designer Fashion Summit

Barcelona is set to host the inaugural European Designer Fashion Summit on April 13–14, marking a key moment during the 37th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion. The event will take place at the Tinglados event space in the Port of Barcelona and is organized by the Fundación Academia de la Moda Española (FAME) and the Asociación Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), in collaboration with the European Fashion Alliance (EFA).

With backing from prominent organizations such as the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Generalitat de Catalunya, and Gran Canaria Swim Week, the summit seeks to foster communication and cooperation among the European fashion industry. Conceived as a space for strategic thinking, it will address various topics related to digital revolution, environmental revolution, and the new cultural function of fashion. Admission to the event is free for members of the industry, although registration is mandatory.

The two-day activity will be conducted by over twenty experts in the field, who will conduct various sessions such as conferences, interviews, and debates. The first day of the event will focus on designer fashion as an indicator of culture and its worldwide impact, while the second day will focus on internationalization, sustainability, and digitalization.

Prominent speakers include Carlo Capasa of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Pascal Morand of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, Cecilie Thorsmark of Copenhagen Fashion Week, and Scott Lipinski of the European Fashion Alliance. Additional voices such as philosopher Gilles Lipovetsky, Dior Men’s sustainability head Natalia Culebras, and Pyratex CEO Regina Polanco will contribute to the discussions. Hosted by designer Juan Duyos, the summit aims to strengthen collaboration across Europe and position fashion as a force for cultural innovation, sustainability, and global influence.
