This weekend marked the start of summer festival season in New York, with Governors Ball kicking things off alongside major events like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands. Among the standout performers at this year’s Gov Ball were Lorde, KATSEYE, Stray Kids, A$AP Rocky, and Jennie—who shared her excitement with Vogue. “It feels like the perfect way to kick off my festival summer,” Jennie said. “New York crowds are loud, fun, and energetic, so I was really looking forward to that vibe.”
Jennie brought her signature high-energy performance, including hits like “Dracula” and an unreleased track called “Lock It Down,” making her set a lively summer party. Her goal was to create an immersive experience where fans could dance, sing, and feel free—an atmosphere she achieved effortlessly.

Her streetwear ensemble was an ode to New York fashion that perfectly complemented the style of the city, courtesy of the collaboration between Jennie and AWGE, the line from rapper A$AP Rocky. The influence of the artist who hails from Harlem could be seen in the stars and stripes bralette top, distressed denim and flannel mini skirt, Stand Oil boots, and the quintessential New York cap. “It's a little bit street and a little bit playful but also relaxed at the same time,” she said about her street chic, eclectic look.
Jennie expressed her happiness about the weather clearing up and the crowd’s amazing energy. “It was the perfect summer night in New York,” she said. The performance was just the beginning—next month, she’ll headline Lollapalooza in Chicago, eager to continue performing across different cities and connecting with diverse audiences.
